About phytochemicals, vitamins, and nutrients

Chemical drugs are designed to overcome one problem - a typical example is Pfizer's Viagra (dealing with erectile dysfunction). Phytochemicals on the other hand, which are core nutrients in many of AllMensNeeds natural supplements, address diseases in a holistic manner, dealing with the root problems and restoring balance the body has lost because of the absence of these nutrients.

Phytochemicals have been described (by Ohio State University Extension Fact Sheet HYG-5050-9) as 'nonnutritive plant chemicals that contain protective, disease-preventing compounds. The guideline stating to "choose most of the foods you eat from plant sources" has been recognized for years as important for good health. More importantly, recent research has begun describing properties, specifically chemicals, contained in fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, seeds, licorice root, soy, and green tea.

'More than 900 different phytochemicals have been identified as components of food, and many more phytochemicals continue to be discovered today. It is estimated that there may be more than 100 different phytochemicals in just one serving of vegetables.

'Phytochemicals are associated with the prevention and/or treatment of at least four of the leading causes of death in the United States -- cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension . They are involved in many processes including ones that help prevent cell damage, prevent cancer cell replication, and decrease cholesterol levels.

'Research has demonstrated the tremendous potential of phytochemicals in regard to prevention and treatment of disease,' the Ohio State University Fact sheet concludes.

Phytochmicals plays a key role in the natural supplements presented by AllMensNeeds. Even so they are only part of the search by AllMensNeeds for health and sexual well-being solutions for men. A holistic solution to the body's needs requires a re-balancing also of vitamins, minerals and yet other types of nutrients discovered by modern research, such as amino acids, bioflavonoids, and high-potency enzymes.

The beneficial effects of vitamins and phytochemicals in natural supplements are strongly reinforced by these other nutrients which have been shown to benefit the immune system, mental alertness, life expectancy and sex libido.

Even there the quest is not at an end! Some vitamins, minerals and other nutrients complement each other -others put together can create adverse effects.

It is clear then that any multi-nutrient supplement must be scientifically formulated, to provide maximum benefit -and guard against combinations which could prove undesirable.

But if the formula is right, then the benefits of any individual nutrient can be multiplied many many times over.

That has been the objective of the painstaking research carried out by AllMensNeeds.com to identify the quality of manufacturer, and of product.

World Sexual Health -Research extracts.

38% of Australian men suffer from erectile dysfunction (2002 Australian Centre for Sexual Health Research).

4 March 2002 A study by Dr. Joseph Lau Tak-Fai, Director of the Centre for Clinical Trials and Epidemiological Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Research, CUHK found that 50.9% of males had experienced at least one or more sexual dysfunction problems for at least 3 consecutive months in the previous12 months. The prevalence of sexual dysfunction increased with age. Older men were also more likely to be unable to achieve orgasm or feel that sex is pleasurable. Dr. Lau pointed out problems about sexual health have been neglected by medical professionals and by all walks of life for a long time

There was plenty of research showing that sexual problems or emotional distancing between couples negatively affects health.
With the assistance of sex researcher John McKinlay, AARP/Modern Maturity last year released a survey of adults aged 45 and older aimed at discovering their attitudes and sexual activity. That survey, like others, revealed that only a fraction of adults with sexual dysfunction are seeking treatment.

About 25 percent of men by age 50 have at least moderate levels of sexual dysfunction, while half of all men by age 70 have at least moderate degrees of sexual dysfunction, most commonly erectile dysfunction.
The release of tension and sense of relaxation and well being after orgasm has demonstrated short-term positive effects on health, said a spokesperson for the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction.

Regular sex has been shown to maintain hormonal levels that "promote good health, and retard aging," Winifred Cutler cites in the book "Love Cycles."
Geneva, Switzerland, 2001 - Problems with sexual health are a legitimate health concern according to nearly 70 percent of men and women age 40+ in a five-country survey funded by Pfizer Inc. Partner relationships and self-esteem were ranked as most affected by sexual health problems. Although 64 percent of respondents felt that sexual health should be a primary discussion point with physicians, only 30 percent with sexual health problems would have spoken with a physician about the issue.

"Many barriers remain to seeking and utilizing existing treatments to sexual health problems" said Professor Edward Laumann, Department of Sociology and the College, University of Chicago.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

The prostate is a small gland that surrounds the neck of the bladder and urethra in men. It creates semen. The prostate gland may enlarge over the years because of hormonal changes and some nutritional deficiencies. It can then create pressure on the urethra which can make it difficult starting to urinate, or create stopping and starting, difficulty in voiding, and disturbed sleep because of the need to urinate.

Disturbed sleep, a frequent need to urinate, and difficulty in completely voiding (in other words, maybe ten minutes to finish a pee) are probably the main symptoms of BPH which impact on a man's lifestyle.

Enlargement is a symptom which can develop with age. Half of all 50-year-old men have BPH benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is not cancerous although your urologist will make checks to ensure that it is not prostate cancer which is the second biggest man killer after heart failure (and causes 50% more deaths than are caused by breast cancer). Your doctor can do this quite simply in the first place with a simple finger examination of the rectum, checking for lumps and hardness of the prostate. He will also give a PSA prostate-specific antigen blood test. This can be an indicator of possible cancer but a high PSA is not always a certain indicator.

Drugs to treat BPH can cause side effects, as we note below, and if surgery becomes necessary because the symptoms affect daily life too much it could possibly lead to retro ejaculation and other problems. Hence watchful waiting , and not jumping in to surgery without careful discussion with your doc in which he must advise you of all possible side effects. Any worsening of peeing problems especially burning sensations or blood in the urine and you must get to the doc without delay.

But this is one problem where the internet can really serve men. At the end of the day, each man must make his own choices among the many alternatives suggested by his doctor. A time spent on Google and visits to the sites we suggest will give an independent view of the condition to serve as background knowledge to ask questions when visiting your doctor.

Food supplements can help the condition. A review of studies, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, concluded that saw palmetto extract was as effective as finasteride (Proscar®) one of the standard drugs in the treatment of BPH.3 The clinical effectiveness of saw palmetto has been shown in trials lasting six months to three years.

Other research has found that 10.7% of Finasteride patients discontinued treatment because of side effects, including loss of libido, compared to only 1.8% of those taking saw palmetto.

(See news group Sci.med.prostate.bph for discussion on drugs and surgery by men with BPH. It includes discussion of a recent laser system which has been generally getting good reports in the Newsgroup by men who'd had it, compared with standard methods of surgery previously used) . A dedicated website where the whole prostate problem is clearly set out for you including the approach to be taken if you think you may have the problem is http://www.ameripros.org/ The American Prostate Society.

Why Us?

Our formulas are based on scientific research and manufactured to best industry practice.

Scientific Research

  • Chemicals at the root of the therapeutic powers of natural products have been identified. Scientists can now create natural supplements as potent as pharmaceutical drugs, but with fewer side effects.
  • ·There have been growing numbers of randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled studies of natural remedies. Findings include the value of saw palmetto for prostate problems, ginko biloba for memory, and ginsenosides from ginseng for erectile problems.
  • In June 2002 the Journal of the American Medical Association advised all adults to take at least one multivitamin pill each day. This reversed the advice of some twenty years.

The case for vitamins and Phytochemicals is no longer anecdotal, but clinical.
